ddc Light Fixtures
ddc prides itself as a leading source of contemporary design for the stylish modern home. From furniture and lighting to bold decor of all all shapes and sizes, their aesthetic ranges from classic-modern to unforgettably cutting edge.
Their showroom is an absolute must-see for design enthusiasts seeking inspiration- especially when it comes to daring decor. Their thoughtful room setups are the perfect guide to taking design risks while maintaining a functional, livable space.
I think sometimes striking pieces like the fixture above have this funny, off-limits quality to them. You might think, "wow, I really love that style... but it would look absolutely ridiculous in my home."
Spending time in showrooms is great for me because it shows those otherwise intimidating fixtures in action. The ddc designers installed this one in an otherwise minimalist, clean living room space. A basic grey couch, some throw pillows, charcoal carpeting... there was really nothing remarkable about this space unlike something you could easily achieve in your own home.
What I liked most about their setup was the angular juxtaposition they achieved. This fixture was installed in the back left corner of the room, not directly centered like you most often see. I think that off-centered placement really added something to the eccentricity of the piece itself.
I found something similar at Shades of Light. Their Round Glass Chain Chandelier has that same "more is more," multifaceted, super-busy look - and I think that's what makes these pieces look so perfect in such contrast with an otherwise low key space.
