Want to update your apartment for fall/winter 2018?
Interior design showrooms are a great place to start your search for inspo. I decided to check out Dune, located on the first floor of the NY Design center, to browse their look and feel in search of ideas.
Dune’s style can be described as innovate American-contemporary. If you’re ever in the midtown Murray Hill area of New York, make time to check them out. Their expertly curated showroom feels like a modern art museum, and the brick and mortar location is literally the only place in the world where their pieces can be browsed or purchased.
They just wrapped their summer look and redid the showroom for fall/winter ‘18, so I popped in to get the scoop. The big picture? Bright accents.
Since their launch in 1998, Dune has grown into an award-winning name in design, known especially for their custom collaborations with the world’s most cutting edge designers and architects.
“An emphasis on the progression of design with core functionality, high quality and low volume production has been central to the spirit of Dune,” shares Richard Shemtov, Dune founder and CEO. “We have introduced a new level of daring and sensible luxury to contemporary design by embracing changes in technology and culture.”
The spectacular paintings (many by NY Artist Melinda Hackett) currently on display truly embody this innovative blend of daring and luxurious. To get the look in your own home, go bold with a large accent painting.
The photo above shows what might look like a handful displayed in gallery fashion- but each painting was about 3’4’. These were pretty substantially-sized and meant to stand alone.
Try a large, bold accent painting above your living room couch to execute this vivid trend in your own space.
Here’s one I love from Xingmai Painting, an incredibly talented Etsy artist. This brilliant piece really recreates that high-end look I saw in Dune, and it’s only $78- an absolute steal.
